Government forces neutralize Maute-ISIS remnants, recovered firearms in Lanao del Norte

PAGADIAN CITY, Zamboanga del Sur  (February 8, 2018) – The Joint Law Enforcement Operations of military and police neutralized the notorious Maute-ISIS remnants in Lanao del Norte, Thursday (February 8) early morning, military official said.

Information officer Maj Ronald E. Suscano (INF) PA, 1st Infantry (TABAK) Division, disclosed that the troops of Joint Task Group Lanao del Norte (JTG LDN) under Joint Task Force “ZamPeLan” and Pantar PNP killed the terrorists, a certain Omar Daiser and two (2) others, and recovered high-powered firearms in a Joint Law Enforcement Operations at 2:30am Thursday (February 8) in Brgy Lumba  Punud, Pantar, Lanao del Norte.

Brig Gen William A Alunday AFP, Commander of JTG LDN said that “Omar Daiser is a fugitive who escaped from Marawi City Jail, joined the Maute-ISIS group and was utilized as ISIS contact person in Pantar during the Marawi rebellion.”

“The subject has a standing warrant of arrest  for the crime of robbery with homicide issued by the Marawi City Regional Trial Court. He is known to be an illegal drug user and pusher and a follower of Solitario Ali, former Mayor of Marawi City who is involved in illegal drug trade,” said Alunday.

Maj. Suscano said Daiser and two other unidentified terrorists were shot dead after resisting arrest and fighting it out with the enforcers. The operating troops also recovered four (4) M16 armalite rifles, one (1) M203 GL, one (1) FAL rifle  and one (1) Pietro beretta 9mm pistol with markings PNP property, assorted ammunitions and bandoleers left at the site. The cadavers have been  taken by the PNP Pantar for proper disposition and latterly claimed By Bokari Abdulgani, Municipal Councilor of Pantar.


Major General Roseller G Murillo AFP, 1ID Commander said, “the government forces will continue to intensify its internal security operations in Joint Task Force “ZAMPELAN’s” area of operations to neutralize the remnants of terrorist groups in Marawi”.
