DENR and PIA Officials unveiling of advocacy campaign |
IPIL, Zamboanga
Sibugay, July 18 (PNA) -– The Department of Environment and Natural Resources
(DENR) in partnership with the Philippine Information Agency (PIA) launched
here Friday the Regional Advocacy on Climate Change.
The advocacy, which
is aimed at raising public awareness on climate change and adaptation, was held
at 1 p.m. and was attended by local government officials, DENR personnel and
members of the media.
The guest speaker of
the launching of advocacy is DENR Regional Executive Director Arleigh Adorable,
who cited the activity was important to keep the public abreast with the issues
involving climate change.

For her part, PIA
Regional Director Noemi Edaga encouraged the participants to be active movers
in protecting the environment.
“Let us love our
environment and strengthen climate change adaptation and mitigation. Let us get
involved in climate change, let’s not take it for granted,” Edaga said.
During the program,
the Regional Task Force on Climate Change was also reorganized.
The reorganization
came as several members representing concerned government agencies have already
retired from the service. (PNA)
