4 ASG Members Killed in Sulu Encounter

CAMP NAVARRO, ZAMBOANGA CITY - Four Abu Sayyaf Group members were killed and ten others were wounded in a close firefight with the Marines soldiers in Patikul, Sulu.

This Report received by Western Mindanao Command, at around 6:30 a. m. this morning.

Marines from the Force Recon class 18, have engage in a close firefight with the
notorious ASG at Brgy Tugas, Patikul Sulu where four of the ASG members were killed and ten others were wounded.


Two of the four ASG member killed were identified as a certain Kausar Sawadjaan and a certain Commander Apong Idol.

Seven government soldiers including one officer were killed in action while nine others were wounded in the said encounter.

The identity of the soldiers who were killed and wounded in action is still withheld pending the notification of its relatives.

As of this report, joint AFP and PNP forces are currently conducting follow through actions, were the safety and well-being of the community is paramount consideration and the focus of the military operations will continue to be observed.

The AFP specially Western Mindanao Command will see to it that those soldiers who were involved in the encounter will be recognized accordingly and the family of those who have paid their ultimate sacrifice will be taken cared of, while those who were wounded will be given the best medical assistance available.
