Army applicants reach 1,043

By Hirohito D. Cadion

PAGADIAN CITY, Zamboanga del Sur, Feb. 5 (PNA) -- A total of 1,043 applicants have submitted their requirements to the Army’s First Infantry Division for the yearly in-processing of the Candidate Soldier (CS) selection.

Army’s 1st Infantry Division information officer-in-charge Capt. Jefferson Mamauag said the applicant came from the provinces of Zamboanga, Lanao and Basilan and neighboring Regions.

Mamauag said the CS applicants have undergone on Sunday the pre-screening phase wherein they must pass the height requirement of not less than five feet; possess no physical deformities; tattoo; ear pierced and not color blind; with normal blood pressure and dental health; and, they must have the Philippine Army Aptitude Test Battery (PAATB) score of not less than 80 points.

Mamauag said the recruitment is being supervised by the Office of the Assistant Chief of Staff for Personnel.

He said the personnel office has established a reception area, public address system and announcement boards “where every applicant is aided with the right information and processing flow.”

He said the command has also taken all the initiatives to make the recruitment as applicant-friendly and as “level-a-playing field” as possible to everyone with uniform briefing on the schedule for screening, procedure, camp rules and regulation in order to ensure a seamless recruitment process.

He said that Army’s 1st Infantry Division commander Maj. Gen. Felicito Virgilio Trinidad, Jr. envisions to recruit only the best and the smartest among the CS applicants.

He said it is aimed to carry out the Army’s tradition of service above self, effective community servants, human right protectors, disciplined and motivated, all in keeping with the vision towards “a world-class Army that is a source of national pride.” (PNA)
