PAGADIAN CITY,
Zamboanga del Sur, Feb. 5 (PNA) -- A total of 1,043 applicants have submitted
their requirements to the Army’s First Infantry Division for the yearly
in-processing of the Candidate Soldier (CS) selection.
Army’s 1st Infantry
Division information officer-in-charge Capt. Jefferson Mamauag said the
applicant came from the provinces of Zamboanga, Lanao and Basilan and
neighboring Regions.
Mamauag said the CS
applicants have undergone on Sunday the pre-screening phase wherein they must
pass the height requirement of not less than five feet; possess no physical
deformities; tattoo; ear pierced and not color blind; with normal blood
pressure and dental health; and, they must have the Philippine Army Aptitude
Test Battery (PAATB) score of not less than 80 points.
Mamauag said the
recruitment is being supervised by the Office of the Assistant Chief of Staff
for Personnel.
He said the personnel
office has established a reception area, public address system and announcement
boards “where every applicant is aided with the right information and
processing flow.”
He said the command
has also taken all the initiatives to make the recruitment as
applicant-friendly and as “level-a-playing field” as possible to everyone with
uniform briefing on the schedule for screening, procedure, camp rules and
regulation in order to ensure a seamless recruitment process.
He said that Army’s
1st Infantry Division commander Maj. Gen. Felicito Virgilio Trinidad, Jr.
envisions to recruit only the best and the smartest among the CS applicants.
He said it is aimed
to carry out the Army’s tradition of service above self, effective community
servants, human right protectors, disciplined and motivated, all in keeping
with the vision towards “a world-class Army that is a source of national
