89 pairs joins Valentine’s Day Mass Wedding in Pagadian City

PAGADIAN CITY, Zamboanga del Sur (Feb.15-CNN Ph) – 89 pairs had joined the Valentine’s Day Mass Wedding spearheaded by the Chief Executive in this City Government Sunday held at the 4th floor of City Commercial Center (C3) Mall.

The presentation of 89 contracting parties and the principal sponsors was conducted by the City Civil Registrar Leonardo Acorda in compliance with the celebration of the Civil Registration Month under Article 34 of the Family. Code.

Bernardo C. Martinez, provincial Statistics Officer, Philippine Statistic Authority Zamboanga del Sur provincial Office in hia message cited the importance of the provision as Article 34 of the Family Code on the ground that it had become traditional and that one of its purposes is the legitimation of children.

Mayor Romeo Pulmnes who solemnizing the Nass Wedding expressed his congratulation to the 89 couples for the right decision for joining the mass wedding.

Of the 89 couples, 45 pairs had live-in together within 5 years. The oldest couple is 74 years old Romeo Dales and Estrella Duhaylungsod, 64 and 3 other pairs of pregnant couples.


The mass wedding is the annual activities of the Local government units for free of charge during the Civil Registration Month celebration that falls on the month of February.
