Update on the armed conflict in Butig, Lanao del Sur

MARAWI CITY, Lanao del Norte --- Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM) Regional Vice Governor (RVG) Moey Lucman and his team are now at the at the Lumbatan municipal  hall wth Col delarosa, Mayor Macadato and other officials.

He said that Butig is impassable as of the moment. May bombing sorties and military sa bgy poktan, the location of the suspected armed group engaged in a firefight wth the army troopers yesterday.

No info yet on the casualties. Right now there is massive displacement of the civilian population.

Relief assistance is badly needed. Kanao del Sur Governor Mamintal “Bombit” Alonto Adiong has already contacted Col. Tatar Boriongan, the Provincial Disaster Risk and Rescue Management Officer, and Maharlanny Alonto, the Provincial Social Welfare Officer, with regard to relief distribution in the affected areas.

Population of Butig is 22,256. 213 have been displaced per record of PDRRM.

As of the moment, 213 evacuees are now in Marawi City which is yet to be validated.

According to the MDRRM Officer of Butig, more than 500 have evacuated.

“Nag5takboha ang mga tao towards different places, some were going to the neighboring municipalities, ang iba dahil no relatives, ang iba dito na sa Marawi City scatterd,” said Maharlanny Alonto, PSWD Officer

Casualties confirmed dalawa, one house burned. As of Wednesday 11:04am, she said.

To address the plight of the Internally Displaced Persons from Butig, Lanao del Sur, Governor Mamintal Bombit Alonto Adiong, Jr. has created a Crisis Management Committee which he heads.

As of the moment, there are 2067 validated evacuees (335 families) who are in Marawi City who have been given relief goods. 657 families have fled to Masiu, Lanao del Sur and were also provided relief goods.

Number of evacuees who have fled to Lumbatan, Lumbayanague and Poona Bayabao heve yet to be validated. According to the DRRMO of Butig, there were 7800 evacuees from Butig as of 3:00 pm on Feb. 22, 2016.

Repacking of relief goods provided by the provincial government of Lanao del Sur is being done in the Provincial Capitol Complex per instruction of Governor Adiong.

Update as of 12:00 P.M. February 26, 2016 regarding IDPs due to armed conflict in Butig, Lanao del Sur.

The partial number of families affected by the armed conflict in Butig, Lanao del Sur is 4,916.




Of this number 2,307 families have been given relief goods by the Provincial Social Welfare Development Office. Repacking and distribution of relief goods for 2,592 families is still ongoing.
