PCSUPT BILLY B BELTRAN, Regional Director, PRO9, administered the oath of office of the recruits following their presentation by PSSUPT ROMULO CLEVE N TABOSO, Chief of the Regional Police Personnel and Human Resource Development Division (RPHRDD).

The Regional Director, in his message, welcomed the new batch of police officers in the region and praised them for passing the rigid screening process such as neuropsychiatric test; physical agility test, random drug tests, complete background investigation; physical, medical and dental examination.

He reminded them that their oath is just the start of a long journey they have to undertake with their chosen profession. Being one of the chosen few and given the unique privilege to serve and protect the country and people, the Regional Director urged them to become an example of a dignified police officer.

The 500 new Police Officers 1 (PO1s) are composed of 400 males and 100 females who successfully passed the rigid screening process set by the Philippine National Police and strictly implemented by the Police Regional Office 9 (PRO9) Regional Screening Committee (RSC) headed by POLICE SENIOR SUPERINTENDENT EDWIN S DE OCAMPO, in his capacity as Deputy Regional Director for Administration.

After the oath taking, the newly police recruits were immediately turned-over to the Regional Training Center 9 (RTC9) under PSUPT ROLANDO B CUYA, JR., Regional Training Director, RTC9 for their six month Public Safety Basic Recruit Course (PSBRC), after which they will undergo another five months of Field Training Exercises (FTX), which will be spent at the different police stations for hands-on On-The-Job training. Finally, they will spend another month for Field Training Evaluation and Assessment (FTA) to complete the one year Field Training Program (FTP). Right after the FTP, the new Police Officers will undergo rigid PNP Modified Special Counter-Insurgency Operations Unit Training (SCOUT) for 45 days.

The hiring of the 500 applicants completes the 1st Cycle of PO1 Regular Recruitment Program for the year 2017. The PRO-9 is now accepting applicants to fill the 230 Attrition quota available slots for new batch of police recruits in the region for the 2nd cycle of PO1 Regular Recruitment Program.
