CITYM Zamboanga del Sur (March 21, 2018) – A Barangay Councilor was died on the
spot after he was shot Tuesday evening by a certain Purok President in the town
or Guipos in this province.
Guipos
town police chief P/Insp Simplicio Pasaol identified the victim as Mario
Bustamante 58, Barangay Kagawad of Barangay Sikatuna in the said town. While the
suspect also identified as Jerson Reyes, 33, President of Purok 3 of the same
barangay.
In the
initial police investigation disclosed that the suspect used his homemade 12
gauge shot gun and fled towards barangay proper after the shooting but few hours
after the suspect voluntarily surrendered to the authorities.
Police
Inspector Pasaol said the suspect accepted the commssion of crime due to self
depense.
It was
learned that on Tuesday at 9 pm, the suspect together with his brother Francisco Reyes went to their house and fired
first their gun that force the suspect to fire back hitting the victim.
The suspect
is now detained at the municipal police station for proper disposition.
