KUTA SANG-AN, LABANGAN, ZAMBOSUR – The 32nd
Infantry Battalion assisted the evacuation of four (4) victims of explosion last
5 May around 10:00 o’clock in the evening at Barangay Malinis Lamitan City,
Basilan Province.
According to Lt Col Johnson Jemar D Aseron,
Commanding Officer of 32IB, his troops under Cpt Galorio were conducting
routine patrol along the city area when suddenly they heard an explosion not
far from their location. The troops who immediately responded in the scene of
incident immediately cordoned the area and assisted the four (4) victims who
suffered minor injuries caused by the explosion and brought them at Dr Torres
Hospital for medication. The four (4) victims were identified as Joemar Ignacio,
Christopher E Umbac, Jay-r M Ferrer and Mervin L Tinguha all residents of
Lamitan City.
Based on the reports, the motives of the incident
are yet to find out because the victims are all bystanders in the area when the
explosion occurred. The 3rd Explosives and Ordnance Division- Sub
Team and the AFP K9 unit with the PNP are still conducting post blast
investigation to establish the classification of the used explosives. “The Army
will be working closely with the PNP to bring the perpetrators to justice” BGen
