PIÑAN, ZAMBOANGA DEL NORTE – The 101st Infantry (Three Red Arrows) Brigade, 1st
Infantry (Tabak) Division, Philippine Army participated in the Department of
Education (DepEd) National Schools’ Maintenance Week (NSMW) or known as the
“Brigada Eskwela” in selected public schools within its Area of Responsibility.
The activity which started last Monday May 20, 2013 was run until May
25, is intended to engage the voluntary participation of the school teachers
and faculty members, parents, students and other stakeholders to do minor
repairs, repainting, class room and ground cleaning and grass cutting.
Asked to comment on his unit’s participation in this year’s “Brigada
Eskwela”, Col Apolinario Y. Alobba, the 10st Brigade Commander said: “The 101st
Brigade Troopers is mandated and will continue to perform its non-traditional
roles in its Area of Operations (AOR) for the people to feel that their Armed
Forces is not only their protector but also their partner in the conduct of
civic actions and community services particularly to the needy”.
The said activities highlight and advocate the Armed Forces of the
Philippines’ Internal Peace and Security Plan “Bayanihan”, Col. Alobba added.
