Only two days remain for journalists
and photojournalists in the Philippines to submit their entries to the Red
Cross Award for Humanitarian Reporting 2013.
Organized by the International Committee of the Red Cross and the Philippine Red Cross, the competition welcomes news reports, features, documentaries or photographs, highlighting the humanitarian consequences of armed conflicts or other large-scale situations of violence for affected populations and how respect for humanitarian law is promoted.
Deadline of entries is on 31 May 2013. Entries must be published or aired between May 1, 2012 and May 1, 2013.
Participants must email their entries and their scanned nomination letters to redcrossawardph@gmail.com. To validate their entry, they must fill out the online entry form.
Valuable prizes for winners with outstanding reports include participation in local or foreign trainings on conflict reporting and news safety; gadgets; books on IHL and conflict reporting; plaques or trophies; and other giveaways.
Winners will be announced on 12 August 2013, International Humanitarian Law Day.
The competition is supported by the International News Safety Institute (Asia-Pacific office), The Peace and Conflict Journalism Network, the Philippine Center for Photojournalism, and the Rotary Club of Manila.
