ZAMBOANGA CITY (Sept. 15, 2018) - The newly-assumed Regional Director of Police Regional Office
9 (PRO9) has called for the emergency meeting in preparation on the PRO9 Disaster
Preparedness and Response Plan for Typhoon “Ompong” held at PRO9 Conference
Room, Camp Col Romeo A Abendan, Mercedes, Zamboanga City on September 13,
2018.

Regional Director of PRO9, during the meeting, made sure that everything is
properly coordinated with other agencies, such as DRRMC, LGUs and AFP for the
efficiency of the implementation of the said plan to lessen and if not zero
casualty on the coming typhoon.
The Regional Director has directed Provincial/City
polices on the ground for pre-position of troops and equipment in different
identified risk prone areas and 800 uniformed personnel from PRO9 Headquarters
in Camp Abendan, Mercedes were prepared to form the Reactionary Standby Support
Force (RSSF) as augmentation to the police forces at the lower units.
The standby/support troops will be
deployed anytime in the provinces of Zamboanga Sibugay, Zamboanga Del Sur and
Zamboanga Del Norte as well in Zamboanga City. They are also expected to
provide security, humanitarian, disaster relief assistance to the residents in
area where the typhoon hit. At the same time, they are the additional manpower
during force evacuations and road clearing operations.
Guided by the IMPLAN SAKLOLO 2014
(Policing during Disaster), the Police Regional Office 9 has intensified its
preparation on pre-disaster activities, among this are: The Police Regional
Office 9 attended the 3rd quarter meeting of the committee on disaster
preparedness on September 13, 2018 held at the local hotel in Zamboanga City
chaired by DILG, vice chairperson for preparedness in the Regional Disaster
Risk Reduction and Management Council.
Later today, the Police Regional Office
9 is expected to attend the meeting of core group of Pre-disaster Risk
Assessment for typhoon “Ompong” on September 14, 2018 at Office of Civil
Defense in Zamboanga City.
