Fire destroys PHP1-M properties in Pagadian City

PAGADIAN CITY, Zamboanga del Sur, March 18 (PNA) -– One person was injured while some PHP1 million worth of properties were destroyed by a fire late Tuesday in this city.

Chief Insp. Reggy Olmedo, local fire marshal, said the fire razed to the ground two houses of two-storey each and partially destroyed another one along Datoc Street, Barangay Gatas, this city.

Olmedo said Theodore Ubas suffered burns and bruises on his hands and knees as he tried to put off the blaze when the fire broke out.

Olmedo said the fire, which broke out around 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, started at the residence of Thelmo Ubas Jr. and rapidly spread and also engulfed the house of Lamberto Talip Sr.

He said the house of Elen Cuaresma was partially destroyed.

He said the origin of the fire was due to a lighted candle left unattended at the living room of the Ubas family since it was brownout at the time of the incident. (PNA)
