Women’s month celebration kicks off in Pagadian City





PAGADIAN CITY, Zamboanga del Sur, March 11 (PNA) -- The local government has lined up a series of activities as it spearheaded the Women’s Month celebration in this city.

The celebration kicked-off with a motorcade Wednesday led by Vice-Mayor Divina Grace Yu. It was joined by the different local women’s group.

The motorcade was followed by a program at the covered court at this city’s Plaza Luz in front of City Hall.

Yu said among the activities they have lined up are livelihood trainings for women aimed to help boost the income of the family.

Yu said these include trainings in the preparation of peppermint tea, blue ternate juice and fish longanisa.

The City Agriculturist Office will spearhead the conduct of the trainings.
Yu said there will be exhibits of products produced by the different women’s groups of this city.

She said they will also train on solid waste management.

She said the other activities will include the following: medical services in the barangays on Thursday and Friday; advocacy on women’s rights related to Republic Act 9262 otherwise known as anti-violence against women and their children act of 2004 on Saturday.


She said second district Rep. Aurora Cerilles will be the guest speaker in the culmination program of the Women’s month celebration on Sunday which will be held at the gymnasium of this city. (PNA)
