Zambo Sur policemen to join nationwide sympathy walk

PAGADIAN CITY, Zamboanga del Sur, March 7 (PNA) -– The police force in this province will join the nationwide sympathy walk Sunday to commemorate the 44th Day of Mourning for the fallen 44 Special Action Force (SAF) policemen.

The nationwide sympathy walk will be held Sunday although the last day of the 44th day of Mourning falls on March 9, Monday.

Supt. Glenn Dulawan, local police chief, said the sympathy walk will start from the Plaza Luz in front of City Hall to the main thoroughfares of this city.
Dulawan is also the Philippine National Police Academy Alumni Association (PNPA)-Zamboanga del Sur chapter president.

Dulawan said the walk would end also at the Plaza Luz where a program followed.

He said the walk would be joined by the relatives and friends of the three of the 44 fallen SAF policemen who were natives of this province.

The three slain SAF who are natives of this province are: Senior Insp. John Garry Erana, PNPA-Class 2009; Insp. Rennie Tayrus, PNPA-Class 2011; and Police Officer 3 (PO3) Virgel Villanueva.

Erana and Tayrus were from the nearby town of Dumalinao while Villanueva was from the coastal town of San Pablo.



Dulawan said the sympathy walk will also be joined by students and members of the civil society organizations and non-government organizations. (PNA)
