PAGADIAN CITY, Zamboanga del Sur (Dec. 4, 2018) – Two Maute/ISIS remnants surrendered in Tubaran, Lanao del Sur 6:50 p.m. Monday (December 3, 2018).

“COMANDER and MAMAC (not their true name), thru the effort of local government units, yielded to our troops,” said Lt. Col. Ian Noel Ignes, the 55th Infantry Battalion Commander, under the Joint Task Force Ranao.
The remnants also surrendered one caliber 50 rifle and one M1 garand.

“Joint efforts among local government units, local populace, other stakeholders and our troops led to this successful surrender,” said Brig. Gen. Thomas Sedano Jr., 2nd Mechanized Brigade Commander. “A total of 746 loose firearms were already surrendered to 2nd Mech Brigade this calendar year 2018,” Brig. Gen. Sedano added.

Maj. Gen. Roseller Murillo, 1st Infantry Division and Joint Task Force Zampelan (Zamboanga Peninsula and Lanao Provinces) Commander, commended the efforts of the troops and stakeholders involved.

“The continuous surrender of Maute’s entails weakening of their organizational leadership and capabilities. Likewise, the surrender of loose firearms will minimize the crimes and atrocities in our area of operation,”
Maj.Gen. Murillo said.

“We will continuously work together with stakeholders in order to encourage more Maute/ISIS and loose firearms to surrender,” he added.(By JONG CADION with DPAO PR and photos)
