Army/PNP, Lawless Armed Group Clash in Sibuco



PAGADIAN CITY, Zamboanga del Sur (jAN 21, 2019) – Joint AFP and PNP troops clashed with undetermined number of Lawless Armed group in Sibuco, Zamboanga del Norte Saturday (January 19, 2019), military official disclosed.

Capt. Clint Antipala, Acting Division Public Affairs (DPAO) Chief said that the 15-minute firefight resulted into one soldier declared dead on arrival by the attending physician in Camp Navarro Hospital, Zamboanga City after he was extracted from the encounter area.

The joint law enforcement operation was conducted to arrest Basiran Ahil Mudja who has two warrants of arrest for murder and attempted murder case.

Name of the dead soldier was withheld pending the notification of the families.

“Pursuit operation has been conducted to arrest and neutralize the armed group who also suffered casualties based on the bloodstains left in the encounter site,” said Col. Bagnus Gaerlan, the 102nd Infantry Brigade Commander based in Ipil, Zamboanga Sibugay.

“We extend our deepest sympathies to the families and friends of our hero soldier. He died protecting the community in pursuit of peace and prosperity,” said Maj. Gen. Roseller Murillo, 1st Infantry Division and Joint Task Force Zampelan (Zamboanga Peninsula and Lanao Provinces) Commander. (By JONG CADION with DPAO PR)
