“Based on the report from the ground, Adjaip Salapudin, 62 years old, the incumbent Chairman of Barangay Pahut handed over his 12-Gauge Shotgun with 10 rounds of live ammunition and his cal. 38 revolver with six rounds of live ammunition to the marine troops around 4 p.m. Wednesday,” said Lt. Gen. Corleto Vinluan, Jr., Commander of Western Mindanao Command.
The surrendered firearms and ammunition are placed under the custody of the Marine Battalion Landing Team-12 for safekeeping.“I commend the personnel of the 112MC under the MBLT-12 for this laudable accomplishment,” said Brig. Gen. Arturo Rojas, Commander of Joint Task Force Tawi-Tawi.
“Rest assured that we will continue conducting security forums/dialogues to the local government units and barangay officials to encourage the populace to surrender their loose firearms,” the commander added.
Since January 2021, 42 loose firearms were handed over to the marines in Tawi-Tawi 27 of which are high-powered and 15 are low-powered.
“In honor of our fallen comrades and those who are recuperating in the hospitals right now, the Western Mindanao Command continuously conduct focused and civil-military operations to keep the communities safe and secured and to disallow the terrorists to take advantage of the situation,” said Lt. Gen. Vinluan, Jr.
“All our successes are results of effective collaboration with the local
