Said cash gifts were given to survivors and were distributed by Western Mindanao Command’s Sergeant Major, Chief Master Sergeant Feliciano Lazo together with Assistant Sergeant Major, Master Sergeant Raniel Gonzales on July 19, 2021.
According to Governor Bautista, the purpose of the cash assistance is to boost the morale of the soldiers who are fighting the physical and emotional pain brought about by the tragic incident.
It can be recalled that the Hercules C-130 Aircraft with tail number 5125 of the Philippine Air Force crash-landed in Patikul, Sulu on July 4, 2021.
Said incident claimed the lives of 50 soldiers and 3 civilians and injured 49 others. All the survivors are currently recuperating at the following hospitals: Camp Navarro General Hospital, Zamboanga City Medical Center, Zamboanga Doctors Hospital, Ciudad Medical Zamboanga, West Metro Medical Center, and Southern Philippines Medical Center in Davao City.
“Again, we are very grateful for the overwhelming support we, most especially the victims of the air mishap, get from the different private and public agencies and sectors,” said Lt. Gen. Corleto Vinluan, Jr., Commander of Western Mindanao Command.“We seek for continuous prayers for the eternal repose of the souls of
our fallen comrades, for strength for their bereaved families, and for the fast
recovery of those who are still at the hospitals right now,” the commander
