According to Lt. Gen. Corleto Vinluan, Jr., combined elements of the police and intelligence units conducted law enforcement operations targeting Jalman Orandatang, a Daulah Islamiyah-Maguid Group member at around 9:45 in the morning, Tuesday.
While they were approaching the target’s location, they were fired upon by two unidentified armed men along Tupi Bridge, Barangay Kablon, Tupi town.
A brief firefight ensued which resulted in the wounding of one of the armed men while the other managed to escape towards northeast direction.
The wounded suspect who was later identified as Jonny Orangdatang, a.k.a. George Orangdatang, was immediately brought to Polomolok Municipal Hospital for medical attention. Due to the fatality of his gunshot wounds, Orangdatang expired while being treated at the hospitalBased on the initial investigation, Jonny is the brother of the target.
Brig. Gen. Roy Galido, Commander of 601st Infantry Brigade said he directed troops from the 5th Special Forces Battalion to support the clearing and pursuit operations launched by the personnel from Polomolok and Tupi Municipal Police Stations.
Maj. Gen. Juvymax Uy, Commander of Joint Task Force Central assured that the military will continue to support other security agencies in the conduct of law enforcement operations in central Mindanao.
Meanwhile, Lt. Gen. Vinluan, Jr. said, “The armed forces acknowledge the
active participation of the intelligence units in our operations through
