5 ASG killed 1 captured leading the rescue of Chinese kidnapped victim

ZAMBOANGA CITY – At least 5 members of Abu Sayyaf terrorist group operating in Zamboanga City were killed and 1 captured after 15 minutes firefight between the joint government troops of Philippine Army and Police operatives yesterday morning resulted to the rescue of Chinese kidnapped victim Lin Yuankai alias Jampong Lin.

Lin Yuankai alias Jampong Lin, 38, the vice president for operations of mining firm Li-Lo Minerals Traders was recovered inside the newly installed Abu Sayyaf Sub-camp after the joint government troops overrun them in Brgy. Calabasa some 50 kilometers east of Zamboanga City, Presidential Anti-Organized Crime Commission (PAOCC) said.

Five kidnappers belong to the notorious Abu Sayyaf were killed during the operation. They were identified by Western Mindanao police regional director Chief Supt. Napoleon Estilles as Termije Ajijul, the Sub-leader of Abu Sayyaf Sitti Raja Salvin, Abu Ulm, Arab-Arab and Banah-Banah.


Jian Luo alias James Luo
Jampong Lin was kidnapped in Barangay F.L Peña, Kabasalan, Zamboanga Sibugay at about 8 p.m. on June 4 together with Jian Luo alias James Luo, 43, executive of a mining company and a native of Guandong, China, who was first released by his abductor. He was dropped in Arena Blanco, Zamboanga City around 1:30 a.m. on August 27, 2012 after the allegedly payment of P5 million ransom at the parking lot of Garden Orchid hotel along Gov. Camins Avenue. James Luo left for China few weeks after his release.

The hostage is in good condition flown for Manila after he was presented to the members of media this morning at the PNP Regional-9 Office during the press conference.

The joint government operatives were able to arrest ASG member identified as Sambri Aslon Kamlon alias Abu Ziad, and is now under the custody of the Philippine National Police-Western Mindanao Command (PNP-WesMinCom) while the group leader Khair Mundos was wounded but managed to escape.
Mundos who was identified as a key leader and financier of the Abu Sayyaf was captured in 2004, but he managed to escape from provincial jail in Basilan on 2007. He has a bounty on his head in the amount of $500 thousand U.S dollars offered by the United States Department of Justice for information leading to his arrest.

Government troops recovered from the Abu Sayyaf lair several high powered firearms, 14 backpacks owned by new Abu Sayyaf recruits, training manuals of the Southeast Asian terror group Jemaah Islamiyah, mobile phones and other personal belongings.

The operation was initiated by the anti-terrorism task force Sanglahi, and was carried out by operatives from the Philippine Center on Transnational Crime, 84th Special Action Company of the PNP Special Action Force, the Anti-Kidnapping Group, Police Regional Intelligence Unit 9, Zamboanga City Police Office, 3rd Explosive and Ordnance Disposal unit of the Philippine Army, and the Presidential Anti-Organized Crime Commission.
