KUTA SANG-AN – The Bantay Kalilintad or “Bayanihan” was successfully launched at the Mindanao Civic Center Hotel in Tubod, Lanao del Norte last September 18, 2012.

The said activity was attended by the Philippine Army Commanding General Lt. Gen. Emmanuel T. Bautista as the keynote speaker. Different peace stakeholders of the society, members of the academe, religious organizations and the provincial PNP actively participated in the said launching.

LDN Provincial Governor Hon. Khalid Q. Dimaporo with the Provincial officials expressed their profound gratitude to the 1^st Infantry (TABAK) Division, Phillippine Army to the “Bantay Bayanihan” project which provides a venue for the civil society groups and peace stakeholders to actively take part in the  implementation of the Internal Peace Security Plan (IPSP) of the Armed Forces of the Philippines. “We should altogether be united in achieving peace. There is a need for a concerted efforts and convergence of all stakeholders to finally put an end to the security problems through peaceful means”. Hon Dimaporo added

Col. Ricardo B. Jalad, the Acting Commander of the 2^nd mechanized Infantry Brigade said that the creation of Bantay Bayanihan as civil society oversight mechanism on the AFP implementation of the IPSP inspired the CSOs in Lanao Del Norte to organize the Bantay Kalilintad (Peace Watch). Ustadz Musa Mohamad Sanguila, Director, Pakigdait Inc in Iligan City and one of the convenors of Bantay Bayanihan engaged in a series of brainstorming with the Acting Brigade Commander for the creation of the local version of Bantay Bayanihan.

Acordingly, Lt. Gen. Bautista with the different heads of civil society groups in Lanao del Norte led the signing of manifesto supporting the Regional Bantay Bayanihan.

1^st Infantry (TABAK) Division Commander Maj. Gen. Ricardo Rainier G. Cruz III, said that the remarkable launching was a clear view that concerned Non-Government Organizations and peace stakeholders together with the Army unit in the area truly supports one another in the pursuit of peace within Mindanao. “We desire to work hand-in-hand with the people. In unity and in our continued bayanihan efforts in this province, surely, we will be able to achieve continued progress and lasting peace. MGen. Cruz concluded. (With reports by DPAO)
