Zamboanga del Sur (July 14, 2014-MPF-News) --- The Local Government of Dapitan
City had Kick-off their annual parochial festivity activities, the “KINABAYO
FESTIVAL,” on Friday July 11, Dapitan City Tourism Official said.

Officer Apple Marie Agolong said the Kinabayo Festival activities for this year
had started five days earlier than usual celebration from July 11 to 25 to
attract more tourists during the 15-day activities.
Agolong said this year
festival has set also a lot of activities being prepared by the St. James
Patron devotees for the religious ritual activities together with the LGU of
Dapaitan City having set the two weeks activities with simultaneous
nightly cultural presentations at the Gloria de Dapitan
Fantasyland.
Agolong said the
Kinabayo Festival was opened Friday at 1:00 p.m. through a motorcade around the
city and followed by the search for Miss Silka 2014 at 7:00 o’clock in the evening
held at the Gloria de Dapitan.
Agolong also said las
Saturday July 12 at 7:30 in the evening the Night with Extravaganza was held at
the Shrine 7 with the Collective Talents simultaneous with the Wushu Tai Shi
Aikido held at the St. James Child Development and Learning Center, Inc. at the
Gloria de Dapitan.
Agolong added that
there will be a Pista sa Nayon will be held nightly outside the St. James
church at the City Plaza after the Novena to gather for fellowship offering
native foods delicacies snacks for free to all Catholic church goers devotees
of Patron St. James from the start of Novena on July 16 to 23 from 6:00 pm to
7:20 p.m.
She said aside from
the Religious Ritual activities on the night of July 24 one of the highlight of
the festivity prepared by the LGU is the Miss Dapitan City 2014 that will be
held on July 23 at 7:30 PM.
