POPCOM-9 celebrates POPDEV Week 2014

PAGADIAN CITY, Zamboanga del Sur (Nov. 21, 2014-MPF News) – The Population Commission (POPCOM) will be celebrated the Population and Development (POPDEV) Week 2014 on Nov. 23-29.

This will push the welfare of Filipinos in wide-ranging development—is the basis of the observance of POPDEV Week 2014 by the POPCOM.

This year’s celebration carries the theme “Bigyang Halaga ang Bawa’t Pinoy sa Pag-unlad… Ngayon at Bukas.”

POPCOM-9 Regional Director Reynaldo O. Wong said Thursday the definite concern of the well-being of every Filipino in development outcomes, ensures the provision of quality life in a sustainable manner.

Integrating population dynamics with development planning, policy-making and resource allocation to achieve local development is a key strategy to successful population management program, Wong added.

On top of this POPCOM-9 has urged LGUs and partner agencies to show competence in combining population unpredictability with local development processes, Wong explained, using various modules and tools to guide program managers and planners in analyzing and tackling development administration in their localities.

A POPDEV summit was held here on Nov. 19 to tackle the policy and program implication of having 100 million Filipinos in the country and to aspire to reach a consensus on key action areas. (By KIT KAIMO)
