PAGADIAN CITY, Zamboanga del Sur (Nov. 15, 2014-MPF News) --- The Association of Technical Vocational Institution in Zamboanga del Sur (ATVIZ) is now getting ready for the implementation of K to 12 programs particularly for the senior high school students, the Grade 11 and 12 next year.

Newly inducted officers of ATVIZ headed by the president Paul Omar Gangoso in a press conference at Chandler’s Hotel said Friday that they submitted already their proposals to the Department of Education (DepEd) on their participation in the implementation of K to 12 program of giving technical skills to the senior high school students, the grade 11 and 12 following the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) and DepEd guidelines.

Gangoso said they are now ready to be incorporated in the government’s technical vocational education and training (TVET) program into the K to 12 curriculum next year.

The ATVIZ had focused on the K to 12 curriculum not only in the technical skills which will be fully implemented next year but also in the values and moral education for human development, he added.

He also added that there will be no enrollment of first year college on 2015 due to the implementation of senior high school in the K to 12 programs and DepEd had allocated budget to enroll their students to the vocational schools.

The DepEd will conduct assessment to their student to determine which courses they are preparing to be enrolled where the ATVIZ will come in because of non qualification of high school teachers to do the TVET program except those teachers had done training from the TESDA, he explained.

As of now a total of 39 Technical Vocational Schools registered by the TESDA in Pagadian City and Zamboanga del Sur members of ATVIZ. The ATVIZ is also member of the Provincial Technical Education and Skills Development Committee chaired by the provincial governor. (JONG CADION)
