PAGADIAN CITY,
Zamboanga del Sur (Oct. 9, 2018) – Seven Dawlah Islamiya/Maute members and
supporters surrendered to Joint Task Force Ranao in Pagayawan, Lanao del Sur
today, military official said,
Capt.
Clint Antipala, Acting DPAO chief disclosed that the 55th Infantry Battalion,
under the Joint Task Force Ranao, spearheaded the surrender of the group along
with their firearms.
Capt.
Antipala said that the group yielded three M1 Garand Rifle, one Carbine, four
cal 45, and one 9mm pistol. Custodial
debriefing of the group is still on-going as of this posting.
Capt.
Antipala added that the Army’s Premier Division Chief Maj. Gen. Roseller
Murillo, Joint Task Force Zampelan commander, commended the efforts of troops
and various stakeholders in the surrender of the Maute group.
“Maute’s
were dwindling with their organizational leadership and capabilities, and we
encourage others to lay down their arms to live peacefully,” Maj.Gen. Murillo
said.
