PAGADIAN, Zamboanga del Sur (Oct.
13, 2018) –
The Troops from the Army's 4th Mechanized Infantry Battalion recovered two
firearms and one (1) hand grenade in checkpoint at Brgy Nangka, Baloi, Lanao
del Norte around 10am today, October 12, 2018, military official said.
"Our
soldiers were conducting security checks on reportedly suspicious vehicles when
they were fired upon by the suspects" notes Col Thomas Sedano Jr,
Commander of the 2nd Mechanized Infantry Brigade covering the area of Lanao del
Norte.

Office (DPAO) acting
chief disclosed that the incident came after a call from a concerned citizen
prompted security forces to conduct appropriate measures.
Capt. Antipala said that PNP Balo-i immediately
responded to the incident to conduct investigation on the suspicious vehicles
and their passengers. Search of the vehicles revealed two caliber 45 pistols
with three magazines loaded with ammunitions.
Investigation
also revealed the presence of a hand grenade in one of the vehicles, Antipala
added.
"Peace
and security is everybody’s responsibility. I commended the bravery of the
concerned citizen for the timely information that prevented any civilians or
security forces casualty." said Army’s Premier (Tabak) Division Chief Maj.
Gen. Roseller Murillo, Joint Task Force Zampelan Commander.
Maj.
Gen. Murillo further commended the composure and gallantry of the troops.
