PAGADIAN CITY, Zamboanga del Sur
(Oct. 24, 2018) –
Another Six Maute ISIS remnants surrendered to Joint Task Force Ranao in
Municipal hall, Sultan Dumalungdong of Lanao del Sur Monday. (October 22,
2018), military official said.
Capt. Clint
Antipala, Acting Division Public Affairs Office (DPAO) Chief disclosed that the
six Mautes ISIS was yielded to the 49th Infantry Battalion thru the efforts of
PNP, Sultan Dumalongdong municipal Mayor Jamel Kurangking and Brgy. Malalis
Chairwoman Mohammad Saber D Solaiman,.
Capt.
Antipala said that the surrenderees brought along with them five high powered
firearms; one caliber 50. barret rifle, three M79 grenade launcher and one
carbine rifle. Custodial debriefing still on-going as of this posting.
“The six
remnants were under Sub-leader Mubarak Manalo who were involved in harassing
Pantar detachment September last year as diversion while bulk of Maute ISIS
were fighting in the main battle area,” said Lt. Col Edgar Allan Villanueva,
49th Battalion Commander.
Army’s
Premier Ddivision Chief Maj. Gen. Roseller Murillo, Joint Task Force Zampelan
commander, commended the troops, PNP and local officials that facilitated the
surrender of the remnants.
“The
continuous surrender of Maute ISIS remnants were the effects of dwindling of
their organization, leadership and capabilities,” Maj. Gen. Murillo added. (By
