PAGADIAN CITY, Zamboanga del Sur
(Oct. 30, 2018) –
An eighteen-year-old fighter of Maute ISIS remnants surrendered to 49th
Infantry “Good Samaritan” Battalion of the Joint Task Force Ranao in Butig,
Lanao del Sur Monday, military official said.
Capt. Clint
Antipala, Acting Division Public Affairs Office (DPAO) Chief identified the
young Mauter ISIS as Alias @ ASNOR was 14 years old when he was recruited by
the late Maute ISIS leader Abdullah Maute in the year 2014 together with other
12 minors.
“Nine years
old was their youngest recruit and Asnor was involved in an armed engagement
with government forces in the month of February and November of 2016,” said Lt.
Col Edgar Allan Villanueva, 49th Infantry Battalion Commander.
Custodial
debriefing is still on-going as of this posting.
Army’s
Premier Division Chief Maj. Gen. Roseller Murillo, Joint Task Force Zampelan
commander, commended the efforts of troops that facilitated the young fighter
to surrender.
“We are
glad to hear that Asnor decided to surrender and this is the best chance for
him to return to mainstream society and achieve his aspiration,” Maj.Gen.
