CITY (Oct. 30, 2018) - The Police
Regional Office 9 (PRO-9) is all set for security preparations with maximum
deployment of PNP personnel to different cemeteries and columbaria for the
upcoming “Undas”
on November 1 and 2 when people flock
to observe All Saints and All Souls Day.
PCSUPT Emmanuel Luis D Licup, Regional
Director, speaking before the local media in his first official press briefing,
said that at least 2,000 uniformed personnel are tasked to secure 192
cemeteries, 28 seaports, 94 bus terminals and 4 airports in the region to
ensure the safety of the public.
“On top of that, the force multipliers
categorized as peace and order, civic organization and volunteers has committed
to augment the police forces wherein a total of 1, 738 force multipliers are
devoted to help the police in securing the different cemeteries in the region”
PCSUPT Licup said.
“The public are reminded about security
measures, such as to refrain from bringing prohibited things such as firearms,
bladed weapons, liquors, gambling paraphernalia, videoke and the likes inside
the cemeteries” the Regional Director added.
The Regional Director encouraged the
constituents in Zamboanga Peninsula to report to the established Police
Assistance Desks in the cemeteries, columbaria and public transport terminals
any suspicious or untoward incidents for appropriate action. (By
