PAGADIAN CITY, Zamboanga del Sur (Nov.
17, 2018) – Seven
Maute/ISIS remnants surrendered inLumbacaUnayan, Lanao del Sur 2:00 p.m.Thursday
(November 15, 2018), military official said.
Capt.
Clint Antipala,
Division Public Affairs Office (DPAO), OIC Chief disclosed that the seven
Mautes were yielded to Lt. Col. Ian Noel Ignes, the 55th Infantry Battalion
Commander, under the Joint Task Force Ranao.
Antipala
said that the remnants
also surrendered two M16, one M14 rifles, one UZI; two
caliber 45 and one 9mm handguns.
“The joint
efforts of LGUs and our troops in the ground made the successful surrender,”
said Col. Ignes.
Custodial
debriefing is still on-going as of this posting.
Army’s
Premier Division Chief Maj.Gen. Roseller Murillo, Joint Task Force Zampelan (Zamboanga
Peninsula and Lanao Provinces) Commander, commended the efforts of the troops
and stakeholders involved.
“The
continuous surrender of Maute’sentailsweakeningoftheir organizational
leadership and capabilities, and we encourage others to lay down their arms and
live peacefully,” Maj.Gen. Murillo said.
“We will
continuously work together with stakeholders in order to attract more
Maute/ISIS to surrender,” Murillo added.
