CITY, Zamboanga del Sur (April 4, 2019) –
One was killed while three were arrested in a joint law enforcement operation
by the Army’s 5th Mechanized Infantry Battalion and the PNP in Brgy Abaga,
Nunungan, Lanao del Norte 4:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 3, 2019., military
official disclosed.
Acting Division Public Affairs Chief
Capt. Clint Antipala identified thee the killed personality as Samolabao Tumog,
known as alias SB, a former Barangay Chairman of Rebucon of the same
municipality.
“Samolabao Tumog was neutralized in a
follow-up operation after the apprehension of the three drug suspects”, said
Lt. Col. Rolando Orengo, Commanding Officer of the 5th Mechanized Infantry
Battalion.
Government troops were about to serve
the search warrant when Samolabao Tumog warned them not to enter his house and
immediately fired his M-16 rifle that resulted into the wounding of one Army
personnel.
Wounded trooper was immediately
evacuated and brought to the nearest hospital for medical treatment.
The three arrested were identified as,
Jalal Diambarang Tumog, Pano Tumog and Hami Tumog and are now under the PNP
custody for filing of appropriate charges.
Troops also recovered one M16 rifle,
two rifle grenades, one hand grenade, magazines and ammunitions.
“The neutralization of these drug
personalities will significantly reduce the criminalities in our area of
operation,” said Brig. Gen. Ezra James Enriquez, 2nd Mechanized Brigade
Commander who has operational jurisdiction over Lanao del Norte Province.
Meanwhile, Brigadier General Roberto
Ancan, commander of the 1st Infantry (TABAK) Division lauded the efforts of 5th
Mechanized Infantry Battalion, 2nd Mechanized Brigade and the PNP for the
successful neutralization of drug personalities.
“Our joint law enforcement operation
with other government forces is relentless in order to protect our people from
lawless elements and sustain the peace and development in our area of
