CITY (April 9, 2019) – The Police
Regional Office 9 (PRO9) under the leadership of Police Brigadier General
Emmanuel Luis D Licup has been gaining ground on it relentless war against
illegal drugs as it intensifies its campaign
across the region.
Citing the data from the Regional
Operation Division covering the period from December 5, 2017 to April 6, 2019,
a total of 2, 680 drug personalities were arrested under its Oplan Double
Barrel program. Of the total number arrested, 2,336 of them were drug pushers
while 344 were drug users.
The PRO9 stressed out that a total of 2,
028 police operations were conducted during the same period under Oplan Double
Barrel which targets both big-time and small-time drug dealers resulting to 25
drug personalities died in police operation.
Meanwhile, under Project Tokhang, also
for the same period, there have been 56,173 drug surrenderers wherein 52,213 of
them drug users, and 3,960 are drug pushers. Of the total number of drug surrenderers,
23,469 of them had undergone recovery and wellness program intervention. (By JONG CADION with PRO9 PIO)
