CITY (April
4, 2019) – The police units of Police Regional Office 9 (PRO9) has
apprehended a total of 95 gun ban violators nearly three months in line with
the implementation of the COMELEC election gun ban which start from January 13
– April 4, 2019.

Licup, PRO9 Director, said the arrested persons are composed of 88 civilians, four
government forces and three government officials and were apprehended for
carrying firearms, gun replicas, explosives, and bladed weapons.
The violators were arrested during the
conduct of checkpoints, buy-bust operations, police patrols/response, search
warrant and other police operations.
For the same period, the Police
Regional Office 9 implementation of intensified police operations has seized 93
assorted firearms, including 84 guns, 2 gun replicas and 7 improvised/homemade
guns.
On the other hand, a total of 917 other
deadly weapons and ammunitions were also confiscated, which include 16
grenades, 22 Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs), 874 ammunitions, and 5 bladed
weapons.

assures the public that the PRO9 are exerting tremendous efforts to keep the
whole Zamboanga peninsula region violence-free in connection with the upcoming
May 13 local and national mid-term elections.
Meanwhile, the Regional Director commended
all the police units of PRO9 for a job well done. He also urged the general
public and local candidates to continually support and cooperate with the authorities
to attain peaceful and orderly elections. (By
