Military officials, local chief executive join hands to sustain peace in Misamis Occidental

 PAGADIAN CITY, Zamboanga del Sur (June 13, 2021) - Top officials of the military and Misamis Occidental Governor Philip Tan convened in Tangub City on Friday.

Western Mindanao Command Chief Lt. Gen. Corleto Vinluan, Jr. together with Joint Task Force Mindanao Commander Lt. Gen. Jose Faustino Jr.

paid a courtesy call on Gov. Tan at Gov. Alfonso Tan College, Tangub City on June 11, 2021, purposely to discuss proactive measures to sustain peace in the province.

According to Gov. Tan, the peace and order situation in the province is a lot better now than it has been before.

“I thank the military for keeping us safe and secured and for assisting us in the battle against COVID-19,” said Gov. Tan.

Lt. Gen. Vinluan, Jr. expressed his gratitude to Gov. Tan for the unwavering support of the local government units to the continuing efforts of the military to end terrorism and insurgency in the province.

He also introduced the first-ever commander of the newly-activated Joint Task Force Mindanao to the Governor.

JTF Mindanao was created to unify the efforts of the Eastern Mindanao Command and Western Mindanao Command in addressing the peace and security concerns in the Mindanao region.

Lt. Gen. Faustino said he will oversee the efforts of the two unified commands that both operate in Misamis Occidental.

“My unit will also assist the local government in the implementation of the reintegration program for former rebels,” said Lt. Gen. Faustino

Among those who joined the two commanders during the call on Gov. Tan were Joint Task Force ZamPeLan Commander Maj. Gen. Generoso Ponio,

and 102nd Infantry Brigade Commander Col. Antonio John Divinagracia, and other military officials.

Meanwhile, Lt. Gen. Vinluan Jr. stressed that the strong partnership with the LGU and the religious and traditional leaders must be sustained to be

able to provide livelihood and spun economic activities in depressed areas. 

During the meeting, Gov. Tan donated essential goods worth PhP368, 926.00 intended for the army troops deployed in Ozamiz City.

Said goods include 437 pieces of safety goggles, 24 rolls hand masker, 150 rolls elastic bandage, and 1, 311 bars bacterial soap.

The items were received by Lt. Col. Ray Tiongson, Battalion Commander of the 10th Infantry Battalion.(By JONG CADION wirtth reports and photos from WestMinCpm-PIO)
