PRO-9: scalawags have no place in the PNP

ZAMBOANGA CITY, Sept. 17 (PNA) – Regional police director Chief Supt. Edgar Basbas has declared that scalawags “have no place in the Philippine National Police (PNP).”

Chief Supt. Edgar Basbas
Basbas made the declaration Wednesday as he warned policemen involved in illegal activities that “it’s time for them to stop it before it’s too late.”

Basbas’ declaration came after policemen from other regions were found to be involved in illegal activities such as the so-called “hulidap.”

Basbas said they will never tolerate and condone any policemen involved in illegal activities stressing “they have to face the consequences.”

“They have no place in the PNP. Once we will catch them, we will do everything to get rid of them,” Basbas stressed.

He disclosed illegal drugs is the most common cases policemen from the region are found to be involved.

He said they regularly conduct education and information dissemination to remind the Police Regional Office-9 (PRO-9) personnel to stay away from illegal activities.

He said all chiefs of police in the region are also reminded of their responsibility to ensure their personnel are not or don’t engaged in illegal activities.

“It’s their responsibility to supervise to see to it that their personnel are doing their job and they are not doing illegal activities,” Basbas added. (PNA)
