PAGADIAN CITY,
Zamboanga del Sur (Oct. 2, 2014 –MPF News) --- At least 6 Cargo Trucks loaded
with allegedly imported rice intercepted at the port area in a nearby town of
Margosatubig, Zamboanga del Sur was formally turn-over to the National Food
Authority (NFA) on October 1 in the afternoon following the issuance of Warrant
and Seizure of Detention (WSD) by the bureau of Customs (BOC).
The rice allegedly estimated
to 8-thousand bags was loaded on the boat M/L
Amesia from the Port of Taganak, Tawi-tawi arrived at Margosatubig Port on
September 24 and was intercepted by the joint forces of Margosatubig Municipal
Police Station and 53rd Infantry Battalion on September 25 noon.

Some of the imported rice was already
loaded in the 3 cargo truck ready for transport to Pagadian City were hold when
inspected and discovered without proper documents.

Yesterday morning upon the arrival of
BOC Police from Manila and Zamboanga City headed by Custom Collector Atty.
Enrico Toringan issued the WSD after their initial investigation and
verification an order was issued for the immediate turn-over of the intercepted
imported rice to the NFA for proper inventory and further investigation.

Manager Nieves Toca said the role of the NFA is only for safe keeping while the
BOC is on their process of conducting further investigation to determine on the
legality of the rice shipment.
The four cargo trucks arrived yesterday
at 5:00PM at the NFA Pagadian Warehouse escorted by joint police, military
forces and Customs Police. Another 2 more cargo trucks will arrive today from
Margosatubig.
During the first inventory yesterday from
the cargo truck with plate number KVW-525 containing a total of 1,103 bags at
25 kilos. The inventory will continue today, the NFA Manager said.
