ZAMBOANGA
CITY (February 19, 2018) - The Police Regional Office 9 (PRO9-9) awarded the
performing PNP personnel from the different PNP units in Police Regional Office
9 (PRO-9) and Regional Supports Unit during Monday flag-raising and Awarding
Ceremony at PRO9 Quadrangle, Camp Col Romeo A Abendan, Mercedes, Zamboanga City
at about 8:00 AM Monday (February 19), police official said.

PCInsp Helen L Galvez disclosed that awarded the Medalya Ng Kagalingan (PNP
Merit Medal) were the PNP personnel of Regional Intelligence Unit 9 spearheaded
by PSUPT Dominador Matalang and ten (10) others composed of PSINSP Lee Jan
Ungria, PSINSP Leonel Roncesvalles, SPO2 Jess Rick Mendoza, SPO2 Ronaldo
Remoto, SPO1 Edylyn Dato, SPO1 Armela Angeles, PO3 Lunvie Ortega, PO3 Rodel
Vergara, PO3 Eric Montanez and PO2 Almonjade Luddin.
The
above-mentioned uniformed personnel were recognized for the arrest of two (2)
ASG members identified as Isa Sampang and Paisar Sampang at Barangay Mariki,
Zamboanga City on January 27, 2018. Both ASG members were arrested for the
crimes of Kidnapping and Serious Illegal Detention and involved in the Golden
Harvest Kidnapping in Lantawan, Basilan on June 11, 2011.

Hazel Fernandez, SPO4 Orlando Gellecania, SPO3 Eduardo Covarruvias, PO2 Asmie
Joe and PO1 Edgar Gaganting, all of Zamboanga City Police Station 4 (Culianan),
cited for the arrest of another member of notorious ASG identified as Mudrim
Akbar at Barangay Sangali, Zamboanga City on January 23, 2018. Mudrim Akbar was
arrested for the crimes of Kidnapping and Serious Illegal Detention and
involved in the Golden Harvest Kidnapping in Lantawan, Basilan on June 11,
2011.
Also
awarded the Medalya ng Kagalingan are PSINSP Felixberto B Rule of Zamboanga Del
Sur PPO, PINSP Marjan Sali and PO1 Mc Stuart Balang, both of Regional Mobile
Forces Battalion 9 and PSINSP Oscar Buenaobra of Regional Intelligence Division
9, cited for their operational accomplishment in their respective area of
responsibility.

Billy B Beltran, Regional Director of Police Regional Office 9, said that the
above-mentioned PNP personnel exemplifying the icon of a true and dedicated
public servant having earned honor and prestige, worthy of praise and emulation
not only by their peers, in particular, but also for the entire Philippine
National Police, in general.
