PAGADIAN CITY, Zamboanga del Sur (June 7, 2018) - Because of relentless campaign against loose firearms implemented by the Philippine National Police (PNP) and the military resulted to the Mass Surrender of firearms in Siay municipality in the neighboring province of Zamboanga Subugay Tuesday morning, Police Official disclosed.

CInsp. Helen Galvez said that the Barangay Officials and some individual businessmen
responded the campaign and voluntary turned-over their assorted firearms to
Siay Municipal Police Station
A simple program was conducted during
the Mass surrender of loose firearms attended by Siay Mayor Jarvis Mandi Acosta
together with 29 Barangay Chairmen. Also attended the program is the ZSPPPO Provincial
Director and the military official from the Army’s 102nd Brigade
Galvez added.
CInsp. Galvez also said that aside from
the barangay officials who voluntary Tured-over their firearms, they also help
the campaign against loose firearms in their respective barangays that resulted
to positive response from the business community and fishpond operators.
