Police shot wounded by detainee in Tungawan, ZamboSibugay

PAGADIAN CITY, Zamboanga del Sur (June 15, 2018) – A Police Officer-3 was landed at the hospital after he was shot and wounded by the suspect who was able to get the firearm of another Police Officer-1 and shot him inside Tungawan Municipal Police Station (MPS) in Zambaonag Sibugay province Wednesday at 9:55am, Police Official said.

Regional Police Office-9 PIO Chief CInsp. Helen L. Galvez identified the victim as PO3 Romel Dela Cruz, PNP member presently assigned at Tungawan MPS and designated as Desk Officer.

Galvez said, PO3 Dela Cruz was shot and wounded by the suspect identified as Joemar Banggi Aukasa, a detainee of said Police Station who was arrested last June 11, 2018 for the crime of Three counts Murder and is listed as the Top 7 Most Wanted Person in Tungawan municipality.

Initial investigation disclosed that while Police Investigator PO2 Ariel A. Floren is on the process of taking the fingerprint of the suspect inside the investigation room, the suspect managed to get the issued short firearm (Glock 9mm) of PO1 Mohammad Nur Alamia who was also inside the said room. Then, the suspect went out the room and shot PO3 Romel Dela Cruz who was standing in the front desk, CInsp Galves disclosed.

After the incident, the suspect fled towards unknown direction bringing along the said firearm while the victim was rushed to Ipil Hospital for medication.

The operatives of Tungawan MPS are conducting an ongoing hot pursuit operation. (By JONG CADION)
