PAYAO,
Zamboanga Sibugay (May 9, 2018) – 90 assorted firearms and 7 explosives were
turned over by the Local Government Units of Payao municipality of this
province to the Philippine National Police (PNP) during the Mass Surrender of
Loose Firearms conducted at the Rooftop of Payao Municipal Hall in the province
of Zamboanga Sibugay recently.
Police Inspector
Ronaldo B. Gantonoc, COP of Payao MPS, initiated the Mass Surrender of firearms.
The activity was attended by PSSUPT Nestor Y. Tiempo, Provincial Director of
Zamboanga Sibugay Police Provincial Office.
The
Army’s 102nd Deputy Brigade Commander Col. Bangnus Gaerlan and the Commanding
Officer Lt.Col. Jonathan Obena of the Army’s 44th Infantry Battalion
also attended the activity.
Payao Municipal
Mayor Joeper Hamlag Mendoza together with elected Barangay Chairman of
different barangay of Payao supported the program of the PNP and the military
against the loose firearms.
There
are ninety (90) assorted firearms and seven (7) explosives that were
surrendered to the PNP described as follows:
-Seventy-seven
(77) units 12 Gauge Shotgun;
-One
(1) unit Carbine M2;
-One
(1) unit Sniper M-30;
-One
(1) unit Garand Rifle;
-Three
(3) units Caliber 38 revolver;
-Seven
(7) units Caliber 357;
-One
(1) unit Rifle Grenade; and
-Six
(6) M-203 Ammunitions
During
the ceremony, the PNP Official informed the participants of the laws in
possessing the firearms. Likewise the PNP Official urged the public that all
those unlicensed and unregistered firearms must be surrendered either to the
PNP or AFP to ensure the peace and tranquility in the community.
After
the said activity, The PNP Official conducted the inventory of the surrendered
loose firearms and explosives and were turnover to Provincial Logistics Branch for
proper disposition.
