The troops of the 55th Infantry Battalion and Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency-BARMM successfully conducted a joint illegal-drug buy-bust operation which resulted in the apprehension of Romie Diamillah Hadji Alawi, a.k.a. Ali, 48, male, married, and a resident of the same province, Western Mindanao Command Chief Lt. Gen. Corleto Vinluan, Jr. said.
According to Lt. Col. Franco Raphael Alano, Commander of the 55IB, the troops were able to seize one kilogram of suspected methamphetamine hydrochloride also known as Shabu with a national average price of Php6,800,000.00 from the suspect’s possession.
Also recovered were one Toyota Hilux, one Cal. 32 pistol with four ammunition, one genuine Php1,000.00 buy-bust money, 16 bundles photocopied Php1,000.00 bill amounting to Php1,600,000.00, one analog cellphone, and one brown wallet with cash amounting to Php300.00, and assorted IDs.
“We continue liaising and collaborating with other law enforcement agencies to effectively execute the operations against the malefactors,” said Brig. Gen. Jose Maria Cuerpo II.
The apprehended personality and seized pieces of evidence are now in the custody of PDEA-BARMM for filing of appropriate charges and proper disposition.“The armed forces remain steadfast in performing its responsibility as a significant force multiplier in the anti-illegal drug campaign of the government particularly in conflict-affected areas,” said Maj.
