“A certain Nasir Sairil Hadjiril, a.k.a. Nash, 54 years old, marries, and a resident of Barangay Ligaya, Sibutu, Tawi-Tawi handed over his M16A1 Elisco with two short and three long magazines, and 79 rounds of 5.56 live ammunitions to the 312th Marine Company of the Marine Battalion Landing Team 12 around 2 p.m. last Saturday,” said Lt. Gen. Corleto Vinluan, Jr., Commander of the Western Mindanao Command.
Hadjiril personally turned over the firearm and ammunition to 1Lt. Christian Jay Cañeda, the Acting Commanding Officer of 312MC.
“This feat is attributable to the marine troops and intelligence operatives of the MBLT-12,” said Lt. Col. Aladdin Caluza, Battalion Commander of the MBLT-12.
The turned-over items are kept at the 312MC headquarters in Barangay Poblacion, Sitangkai, Tawi-Tawi while waiting for the proper turnover to higher headquarters.
“Together with the local government units, we will continue to conduct security forums/dialogue with the people to win their hearts and educate them about the RA 10591,” said Brig. Gen. Arturo Rojas, Commander of Joint Task Force Tawi-Tawi.
Since January 2021, a total of 23 loose firearms were turned over to the troops of JTF Tawi-Tawi.
“We relentlessly support the government’s campaign against loose firearms. Rest assured that we will remain steadfast in convincing the people to surrender their undocumented firearms and not use them to create havoc in the communities,” said Lt. Gen. Vinluan, Jr.
Loose firearms are unregistered, obliterated/altered, stolen or lost, and illegally manufactured firearms. It may also refer to registered firearms in the possession of an individual other than the licensee and those with revoked licenses in accordance with the rules and regulations.
