Barangay Sanguniang Kabataan Election 2018 in ZamPen generally peaceful

PAGADIAN CITY, Zamboanga del Sur (May 14, 2018) - The conduct of Barangay and Sanguniang Kabataan Election (BSKE) 2018 in the area of responsibility of Police Regional Office 9 (PRO-9) is generally peaceful as of 7:00 PM of May 14, 2018, although there are five (5) suspected election related incidents that were reported prior to the Election Day May 14. The incidents were classified as isolated cases, Police Official said.  
         
Police Regional Office 9 Chief-PIO Chief Insp. Helen L. Galvez said that based in a report submitted to the Operation Center of PRO9, there was no serious violent incident reported by the lower units as 7:00 PM of May 14, 2018.
          
The successful implementation of safe BSKE 2018 security plan coupled with significant operational accomplishments contributed more in maintaining the peace and order during the conduct of BSKE 2018, PIO Chief said. 
         
The Regional Director of PRO9 PCSUPT Billy B Beltran together with the inspecting team from PRO9 are doing a close supervision to provinces and cities which are declared as areas under watch list  in order to ensure tight security operation, Chief Insp. Galvez disclosed.
         
The Police Regional Office 9 and AFP counterpart has deployed 5,195 of its personnel to secure the 1,883 polling centers in the region, she said.
         
Chief Insp. Galvez added that PRO9 earlier installed Commission on Election checkpoints to strategic areas in the region for the strict implementation of election gun ban.

Since the election period started on April 14, 2018, COMELEC checkpoints arrested 53 individuals and confiscated 60 firearms including 1 explosive and 6 bladed weapon, she said.
