Mabuhay,
ZSP (March 4, 2018) - To revitalize the
functionality of the Barangay Anti-Drug Abuse Council (BADAC), the Department
of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) province of Zamboanga Sibugay
spearheaded the roll-out training to strengthen the BADAC members in the three
municipalities of Mabuhay, Olutanga and Talusan on February 29, 2018.
Delegates
include the punong barangay, sangguniang barangay chairman on peace and Order,
sangguniang barangay chairman on women and family, chief tanod, and the
barangay secretary.

barangays from three (3) municipalities attended the training. These barangays
include Poblacion, Malinao, Catipan, Kauswagan, San Roque, Caliran , Punawan,
Pamansaan all from Mabuhay. Another four (4) from Talusan namely: Poblacion, Laparay,
Baganipay and Kasigpitan attended while seven (7) barangays in Olutanga were
also present to include: Fama, Poblacion, Calais, Gandaan, Looc Sapi, Tambanan
and Villagonzalo.
In a
message, Mabuhay Municipal Mayor Restituto O. Calonge underscored that
barangays should not be passive to the battle cry of the President in his
campaign against illegal drugs. The barangays then as the forefront should take
the lead in the fight against illegal drugs.
To the
BADAC members, he challenged them not to be dumb, blind and deaf on the
perennial demands that triggers the societal stability in terms of peace and
order in the community.
For his
part, OIC- Provincial Director Oliver B. Ombos urged all the barangay officials
to bear upon their shoulders the responsibility in the name of public service.
“If you
will not take your part, then who will take the lead? What will happen to our
youth in the next generation? That is why you were elected, chosen to help your
constituent. We are here to work together in this battle. This is a war to
liberate our society from the menace of illegal drugs,” he said.
He
further emphasized that the drug clearing for barangay is one among the items
on peace and order under assessment of the Seal of Good Local Governance
(SGLG).
MLGOO Junel
Cabahug of Tungawan and Rodrigo Ararao of Imelda take turns in giving lectures
on Dangerous Drug Board (DDB) Resolution No. 3 and the PDEAs (Phil. Drug
Enforcement Agency) requirement for the drug-cleared barangay.
Mabuhay
Municipal Health Officer Dra. Jessa C. Alquizar also provided input on the ill
effects of drugs to user, emphasizing that nothing good would come out from the
abuse of drugs.
Meanwhile,
Mabuhay PNP Chief Police Inspector Glen Tabamo laid down the peace and order
and crime mitigation measures to avert crimes and other threats. (Press release
