PAGADIAN CITY (March 7, 2018) – A young
athlete Mr. Peterson Laparan from the nearby town of Plaridel in the province
of Misamis Occidental proves his strength in Long Jump and 4 meters away from
the Champion during the Batang Pinoy Boys 13-15 bracket at the MOPAC Sports Grounds in Oroquieta City, Misamis
Occidental.
Laparan,
on the second place and capture the Silver Medals on the final jump with 6.26
Meters 4 meters behind from Cagayan de Oro City’s Jivie Magnetico with 6.38
Meters.
Meanwhile
Fel Brian Britanico of General Santos got the Bronze medal with 6.19 Meters on
the fourth place. Another athlete from Cagayan de Oro Francis Castulo landed in
fourth with 6.05 meters a meter fast ahead against South Cotabato Jhersel Van
Ombid with 6.04 Meters in a weeklong Batang Pinoy 2018 sporsts competations.
In Long
Jump, the number one record holder in the 13-15 Age Category and was recorded
in Negros Occidental where in a negrense athlete, Jose Jerry Belbestre of
Negros Occidental with a record of 6.87 in Bacolod City Batang Pinoy January
29, 2014 games.
Meanwhile,
Shot Put (13-15) Boy Category, Batang Pinoy athlete from Sat Tomas, Davao del
Norte Batang Pinoy Arianne Khanz Tapurco garnered the Gold medal with 11.51
meters Distance while
the Silver medal was swift away by Khyr Rae Baraman of General Santos City with
a distance of 10.86 meters. The Bronze Medal was captured by Sindangan
Zamboanga del Norte athlete Renante Catayas with a distance of 10.71 meters
while the fourth and fifth place of the Shot Put (13-15) Boys Category was
captured by Koronadal City South Cotabato Gemald Archie Tuarez with a distance
of 10.5 meters followed by Al Jheradld Takbilarni of Hagonoy, Davao Del Sur
with a distance of 9.99 meters.
Board member
Richard “Voting” Centino” who chairs the Misamis Occidental Sangguniang Panlalawigan
Committee on Youth and Sports Development, Games and Amusement said that what
was lacking on their sports development is the support from every Local
Government Units especially on Individual Talents. That is why he is now
contemplating to move for an Ordinance requesting every Local Government of the
14 Municipalities of Misamis Occidental to strengthen its sport development
program, he disclosed.
I would
like to congratulate the coaches and athletes of Plaridel for a job well done. “This is
the first Silver Medal we capture for Athletics especially Long Jump even
though we landed only in the second place but it hard to have that Silver Medal
especially a hard earned endeavor,” he said.(With reports from Philip James
