PAGADIAN CITY, Zamboanga del Sur (April 10,
2018) – A Barangay Chairman Candidate of Barangay Barubuhan in the municipality
of Sominot of this province survived in ambushed but his 1 companion killed and
1 wounded while riding their motorcycles convoy on their way along Barangay
Poblacion were ambushed by undetermined number of armed men Sunday at 5pm,
police official said.
Municipal Police Station Chie of Police Senior
Inspector Juvic Aballe identified the victim as Rolando Labad, 53, former
member of Citizen Armforces Geograpichal Unit (CAFGU) and presently casual
employee ng LGU-Sominot who sustained multiple gunshot wounds in the different
parts of his body that resulted to his sudden death. The wounded identified as Carlito
Murcia, 44, SSominot-LGU employee and resident of said town who sustained gunshot
wound at his right leg nd was brought immediately to the nearby hospital for treatment.
Police Senior Inspector Aballe said that based
in their initial investigation disclosed the the group headed by Santiago
Miñosa, 58, Barangay Chairman Candidate of Barangay Barubuhan for this coming
Barangay and SK Election under the PDP Laban Party. Miñosa together with his 4
companion on board their motorcycles convoy going to the resident of Miñosa but
while along their way passing along Barangay Poblocion and upon reaching Purok 3, Barangay Barubuhan of the said town they
were ambushed by unidentified armed men.
Luckily the Brangay Chairman Candidate Santiago
Miñosa and Enrico Estrada, 54, casual LGU-Sominot employee were not hit and
able to evade from the suspects, P/SInsp. Aballe added.
The suspects after the incident fled towards
Barangay Waling-Waling Cave in Sitio Puting Bato, Barangay Upper Sicpao of the said
municipality.
The responding Police operatives recovered from
the crime scene assorted 42 empty shells of Cal.5.56 mm and Cal.45 including 2 live ammunition of M16 Armalite Rifle.
P/SInsp. Aballe also disclosed that the motive
behind the ambushed might politics due to rivalry of position in the coming
Barangay and SK election.
