PAGADIAN, Zamboanga del Sur (April 27, 2018) - The first ever Youth Leadership Summit (YLS) held at Headquarters, 1st Infantry "TABAK" Division was culminated Thursday.
Tabak
Division Public Affairs Office acting chief Capt. Clint P. Antipala said that almost
1,200 youth leaders from the different
municipalities of Zamboanga del Sur participated in the culminating ceremony at
the Tabak Gymnasium.
Capt.
Antipala also disclosed that the event was graced with Delfin N Lorenzana, Secretary
of National Defense, Divina Grace C. Yu, Congresswoman 1st District of
Zamboanga del Sur, Lt. Gen. Carlito G. Galvez Jr., Chief of Staff AFP, and Maj.
Gen. Roseller G. Murillo, 1st Infantry Tabak Division Commander.
According
to Defense Sec. Lorenzana, “youth are the hope of the future, dont give up, and
stand by your mission.”
Likewise
Hon. Yu also stated that “as youth leaders, be honest, courteous, obedient and
most importantly, love your country.”
The
six batches YLS was facilitated by the 53rd Infantry Battalion in
the 1st Infantry Division Training
School.
Other
than lectures and team building activities, the participants also experienced firing
rifle, rappelling and familiarity of the obstacle courses of the trainees, Capt.
Antipala.
“Our
objectives were to educate and empower young people on current issues hindering
peace and progress, to accept individual responsibility, practice leadership,
and instill patriotism and love of country.”, said Maj. Gen. Murillo.
The
summit was made possible with the support and partnership among the House of Representative,
1st District Zamboanga del Sur, DILG, OCD, PNP, DOH, DEPED, NYC and AFP.
