PAGADIAN CITY,
Zamboanga del Sur (June 5, 2018) – Naval Forces Western
Mindanao received a Plaque of Commendation from the Sangguniang Panlungsod of
Zamboanga City during the conduct of the 18th Regular Council Session on
Tuesday, June 5, 2018.
The
Plaque of Commendation was handed over by the City Secretary to the Sangguniang
Panlungsod, Atty. Kenneth Vincent P Beldua and was received by the Commander,
Naval Forces Western Mindanao Rear Admiral Rene V Medina AFP.
“Recognizing
our recent success through this Plaque of Commendation means a lot to us. This
gesture humbled me and my men. This somehow motivates us to work even harder
and be always at our best so when duty calls, we will be able to respond
without any reservation.” Rear Adm. Medina said as he received the award.
"I
am proud to tell everyone, that for more than a year, we had recorded zero (0)
kidnapping at sea and we had drastically decrease the numbers of crime
committed at sea. We had regained our momentum in our maritime domain and we
are committed to sustain that accomplishment. That is one of the reason that in
no doubt we have that award in our hands." Rear Adm. Medina added.
The
award given was adopted from the Resolution No. 723 of the City Government of
Zamboanga, Commending the Men and Women of the Naval Forces Western for being
adjudged as the Naval Operating Forces of the Year 2018 during the 120th
Anniversary of the Philippine Navy.
Indeed,
the dedication of the command in performing its mandated task to protect and secure
the maritime space of Western Mindanao had been remarkable and noteworthy that
made it bagged the Naval Operating Forces of the Year Award. Likewise, this is
all due to the commitment and dedication of the Sailors and Marines who are
persistent in providing services and protection to the people of Western
Mindanao against lawless elements and terrorist groups. (With PR from NFWM)
