GENERAL SANTOS CITY--The primary
suspect in the killing of a prosecutor of the Office of the Ombudsman in Quezon
City on Monday has a standing arrest warrant here for the murder of a relative
early this year, a police official said.
Supt.
Aldrin Gonzales, public information officer of the Police Regional Office (PRO)-12,
said Wednesday that suspect Angelito Avenido Jr. is facing charges for stabbing
to death his cousin Noel Gallardo in Barangay Bula in Feb. 27.
Gonzales
said Avenido immediately fled after the incident and remained at-large until
his arrest hours after also stabbing to death Prosecutor Madonna Joy
Ednaco-Tanyag in Barangay Vasra along Visayas Avenue in Quezon City Monday
morning.
"That
case (Gallardo killing) happened just days after he was freed from the city
jail," he told PNA.
Citing
records from the city police office, Gonzales said Avenido had spent some time
at the Lanton Reformatory Center in Barangay Apopong for drug-related charges.
But
the 31-year-old suspect was reportedly allowed to post bail and eventually
released from detention last Feb. 14.
Gonzales
said the PRO-12 is currently coordinating with the Quezon City Police Office
and concerned units over Avenido's pending murder case in this city. (PNA)
